When weathering causes damage over time - the only thing that helps is KEMPEROL
Built in the 1950s, the Willi Wien Tower is a very special place on the premises of the Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt (PTB) in Braunschweig. Its premises are used by various laboratories for physical measurements to this day - also, at a height of 50 metres, weather data such as air temperature, relative humidity, precipitation, air pressure, wind direction and wind speed, are received and read out with a state-of-the-art weather station.
The platform of the Willi Wien Tower had leaks in the concrete base that had to be repaired quickly to prevent further moisture damage in the interior. Incidentally, the tower owes its name to the German physicist Wilhelm "Willy" Carl Werner Otto Fritz Franz Wien, who focused on the laws of thermal radiation and was awarded the Nobel Prize for Physics in 1911.

Speaking of regularities: Processor Norbert Augner from the implementing company is also familiar with this Dachbaukunst Quedlingburg GmbH. To provide the platform with long-term protection against moisture penetration, he opted for a waterproofing system from KEMPEROL. First, the substrate was pre-treated with KEMPERTEC EP5 primer and a bonding bridge was created with KEMCO NQ 0408 natural quartz before the platform was sealed with KEMPEROL 2K-PUR. The whole thing was then coated with the KEMPERDUR quartz covering, consisting of KEMPERDUR Deko Transparent and KEMPERDUR CQ 0408 for optimum slip resistance. The main challenge was that the work commissioned by the Braunschweig State Construction Management had to be carried out in the safety area at a height of 42 metres. An adventurous undertaking, with a worthwhile result!
