The second-largest church in Hungary is located in the northern Hungarian town of Eger and was commissioned and built by Archbishop Johann Ladislaus Pyrker between 1831 and 1837. In addition to its beautiful thermal springs, the historic town of Eger is also distinguished by its neo-classical domed church. The building boasts some impressive dimensions – for example, 93 m in external length, 80 m in internal length, 33 m in width and 45 m in dome height.

Historic buildings such as the 185-year-old domed basilica require very special care to protect the building fabric from penetrating moisture and other weathering influences. During the renovation of the monument in 2021, a good 100 m² of stone and copper surface was waterproofed and recoated with KEMPEROL in the connection area of the balustrade. The renovation work was commissioned by the Archbishop's wealth management centre; the architect was DLA architect Mihály Rudolf.
