The emergence of a meeting place
The Artists' Necropolis is located in the Habichtswald forest on the outskirts of Kassel-Harleshausen. A very special place of remembrance and reflection, where renowned artists erected their own gravestones as works of art during their lifetime and even had themselves buried there. The renowned architect and documenta artist Prof. Gernot Minke has also created his own meeting place: a dome with a base area of 30 m2, built from clay bricks he shaped himself. The dome is freely accessible to everyone and invites people to rest, make music or meditate. A building structure and a project for which long-term protection is essential.
Permanently watertight with KEMPEROL
During the construction phase from June to September 2021, installer Nico von Borstel from Akademie Wändepunkt was entrusted with this task. Von Borstel, who attended a KEMPEROL training course at the main plant in Vellmar beforehand, found KEMPEROL LF to be the ideal solution for long-term secure protection of this work.
Waterproofing with KEMPEROL LF was the ideal solution for long-term protection of the dome. The liquid plastic waterproofing can be applied directly from the container and can thus be easily applied, especially for intricate detail work. In order to maintain the clay look of the dome perfectly, a clay plaster was sprinkled into the still liquid waterproofing. Prior priming was not necessary in this case. The 1-component KEMPEROL LF can even be used on special substrates such as clay. A simple application that guarantees long durability.
